Church Hymn

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above,
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love,

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
But of all Thy rich graces this grace, Lord, impart,
Take the veil from our faces, the vile from our heart.

Words: Walter C. Smith, Hymns of Christ and the Christ-ian Life, 1876.

Collect of the Day

"Almighty and Ever-living God. You spoke the world into being, and your voice still echoes through all creation-in the whisper of the wind, the rhythm of rivers, the flight of birds, and the trembling of mountains. Open our ears to hear you in the wonders you have made. Teach us to listen to the witness of the skies. the wisdom of the earth, and the testimony of every living thing. As your servant Job reminded us to learn from creation, and the Psalmist proclaimed that the heavens declare your glory, help us discern your voice in the ordinary and the wild. Let the river of life flowing from your throne refresh our souls, Grant us the grace to live in reverent harmony with your creation, to protect what you have entrusted to our care, and to join all the earth in proclaiming the glory of your name. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever." Amen.
