Church Hymn

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above,
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love,

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
But of all Thy rich graces this grace, Lord, impart,
Take the veil from our faces, the vile from our heart.

Words: Walter C. Smith, Hymns of Christ and the Christ-ian Life, 1876.

Collect of the Day

"Lord of Creation and Rest, who looked upon all that you had made and called it good, and who in the stillness of the seventh day blessed and sanctified the rhythm of rest, teach us to receive your Sabbath gift with joy, that we may cease from striving and dwell in the fullness of your presence; renew our hearts, refresh our souls, and help us find our true identity not in what we do but in who we are in you, that entering your rest by faith, we may live as those who honour your creation, uphold justice and mercy, and find healing and wholeness in Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. " Amen.
