Church Hymn

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above,
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love,

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
But of all Thy rich graces this grace, Lord, impart,
Take the veil from our faces, the vile from our heart.

Words: Walter C. Smith, Hymns of Christ and the Christ-ian Life, 1876.

Collect of the Day

"God of Life and Resurrection, we thank you for breaking the bonds of death through the risen Christ and calling us into the hope of eternal life. As you breathed life into the valley of dry bones and raised Jesus from the tomb, breathe your Spirit into us, that we may live as people of the resurrection—courageous in hope, steadfast in faith, and joyful in witness. Shape us, O God, to walk by faith and not by sight, looking to the eternal house you prepare for us. Renew our hearts, that we may proclaim your victory over death with boldness and compassion; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever." Amen.
